Honor and Glorify Him

God has used the BCM to work in every area of my life. Coming into college I had heard about the BCM and knew I wanted to get involved. I hoped to grow spiritually, but I never expected to grow in so many other areas as well. God has been faithful to me in providing a strong group of believers around me that I call my best friends. He has given me opportunities to live out my faith on campus, share the Gospel on campus and with my friend at home, and serve others through leadership at the BCM. God has placed Christians in the same major as me and has given me the mental support that I did not realize I needed until college.

In high school it was easy for me to fall into an achievement-based view of myself. When I did well in class or even got a scholarship, I would view myself in a positive light. School came easy to me so it was a very consistent mindset for me. It was difficult bringing that mindset to college. God showed me how prideful my heart is and reminded me of the purpose of school and aiming for good grades. The purpose is to do my best and in turn, honor and glorify Him with my efforts. No matter if my best is an A or a C, if I put in the proper amount of studying and present my best effort, God will be glorified.

Campus is very large and classes can be overwhelming, but God is always faithful, even in ways we do not understand. Overall God has used the BCM to place people in my life who make Tuscaloosa feel like home.

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

2 Corinthians 12:9-10
