From Home to “Home”

So, a new chapter in your life is beginning. I have been in your shoes before: just finished up high school, made the decision to go to UA, and now preparing to leave your home and travel to college. It is a huge transition to leave your home, family, and friends.

When I first came to UA, I felt so alone and homesick. All I longed for was home. In hindsight, I was desiring the “home” feeling: friends as close as family who would help to push me closer to God in my spiritual walk. I found this “home” at the BCM due to one of our former students; he would drag me (literally) out of my dorm to BCM events.

The BCM even gave me a place where I could grow spiritually, grow in my areas of weakness, and create friendships. It opened the door for me to serve on the leadership team and help the freshmen after me by teaching a journey group.

The BCM ended up giving me a physical home too, letting me live there this upcoming year as a Host. The BCM is where I feel most at “home” on campus, and the leadership team and I would love to help you feel at home here too.

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. // Acts 2:42-43
